Firefighters in Texas faced calmer weather conditions Saturday while attacking deadly wind-driven wildfires, but worried that approaching thunderstorms could create new problems.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for the New Orleans area and much of the rest of eastern Louisiana, as a strong cold front with a history of producing dangerous thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail and winds in excess of 60 mph approaches the area.
